Charlie Begenyi








 

I've been lucky enough to grow up in Juneau, Alaska which is amazing but it comes with cold winters where at times you can feel stuck inside. That's where drawing came in for me at a very young age and has only grown as a hobby of mine as I've gotten older. While I started with graphite pencils, my practice has since expanded into acrylic painting along with other drawing mediums such as charcoal, marker, and colored pencils. I love the contrast between different mediums and how I can convey a drastically different vibe just by swinging a different bat.

​Whether I'm capturing a detailed real subject in charcoal or layering bold colors on a canvas, my goal is always to push my creative and technical limits. Ultimately, I enjoy making art because a lot of the time it feels as if I can truly express myself through different pieces, even a simple sketch or an unfinished draft.
